Dr. Jamie Kissick

After receiving his medical degree from Queen’s University in 1983, Jamie Kissick embarked on a distinguished 40 year career. His passion for sport medicine spanned the community practice to the world stage. Over the course of his career, Dr Kissick served as team physician for the Ottawa Senators Hockey Team, the Ottawa Renegades and the Ottawa Redblacks. He served on the medical teams at several Paralympic Games and Olympic Games, as well as numerous other international and domestic events. Between 2007 and 2014 he worked with the Canadian men’s Para ice hockey team, attending several Paralympic Winter Games and World Championships.

Globally respected, Dr Kissick was a pioneer for advancing sport medicine discussion and research in Paralympic sport. With a special clinical interest in concussion, he was an expert panelist in several Concussion Sport Consensus Conferences; as well as co-author of “Concussion in Para Sport”. Dr Kissick was Chair of the IPC Medical Committee and the IPC Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee.

In parallel to his distinguished sport medicine practice, Dr Kissick served for fifteen years as a Physician Advisor for Canadian Medical Protective Association.
